My name is Shayne. My family and I moved here to Lincoln the summer of 2004, right after I finished seminary. Before going to Andrews Theological Seminary, we called Oregon home. And home it was for 4 wonderful years. People often wonder how we could handle all the rain, we loved it. You don't have to shovel rain, you don't have to scrape rain off your car windows. Furthermore, without the grey you wouldn't have the beautiful green. To understand our delight in green, know that before Oregon we were in Bakersfield, CA. for 2 years.
Janell and I got married in 1996. Four years later our family had grown to 4, not including our cat Jack Ryan. Like most all parents we feel our children are exceptional good looking and wonderfully bright. And like all parents we also have our moments when we are sure our children have been possessed by sugar demons and are in desprate need of a cleansing. Xavier and Ellie are wonderful gifts from God, full of love, adventure, imagination, and energy.
When I am not doing youth ministry I'm thinking about it. When that happens my wife will often grab me by my ear and gently help me to refocus. No really, I do have a life. I've misplaced it, but its around here somewhere . I like sports, playing and watching. I like to snowboard, it keeps my feet locked in place so things dont' get all crossed up. I like technology and gadgets, video editing and the internet.
I also like the simpler things in life. Like NASCAR, and working on a pit crew for a dirt track race team. I like to fish with my dad, and I almost like to golf with my father-in-law (depends on how well I do). I like to have my devotions early in the morning while it is still quiet, and I smile when I remember God throughout the day. I like to listen to loud music so I can sing without anyone really hearing me. I like the reality that God wants a relationship with me, and I look forward to continuing that relationship face to face some day soon.
